What we do for your online store

Shopping ads start from your product feed, not from keywords, so a lot of our work happens before the first bid. We set up tracking first, because Google's bidding can only learn from the sales it can see.

Each week the same system compares the shipping and return rules in Merchant Center with the ones on your own site. It checks your titles for words Google bars, and it looks for sale dates that have already passed. Each day it checks who can log in to your Merchant Center, and it flags any new outside login to our team.

Your own card pays, in your own Google Ads and Merchant Center accounts. The account and its data are yours either way.

We're a small team in Conway, Arkansas, and we've run Google Ads since May 2016. We work with online stores across the US by phone and video, and our online stores page shows both of our store plans.

  • Tracking: before an ad runs, we set up purchase tracking that sends Google each order and what it was worth, and we prove it works with a test order.
  • Feed: we set up or fix your product feed in Google Merchant Center. We fix the products Google turned off first, then the titles on your best sellers.
  • Campaigns: we run Google Shopping and Performance Max, with as many campaigns as your store needs, for one store in one country.
  • Groups: our system tags each product with its product line and price range in Merchant Center, so we can see and steer each line on its own. The tags never change your store.
  • Waste: we read the searches that showed your products and block the ones that will never buy, with negative keywords.
  • Watch: our system reads your feed every morning. When Google turns off a product, a product is about to drop out or Google rejects a promotion, a person on our team gets Google's reason.

Your feed decides where your products show

Google says Shopping ads use your Merchant Center product data, not keywords, to decide how and where your ads show. So your titles, prices and stock do the job that keywords do on Search.

Google checks every product against its rules, and it opens your product page to compare the price and stock with your feed. When they don't match, Google may fix the number itself or turn the product off. In five store feeds we read on October 13, 2026, the price or stock on the page didn't match the feed for 10% of products, and Google couldn't open the link for 1.4%.

Google had cleared 90% of the products in those feeds to show in U.S. Shopping ads. Google had turned off the rest, still had them in review or had left them out of ads, and no bid can put those in front of a buyer. In the same feeds, stores had marked 7% of their products out of stock, and a sold-out product drops out of Shopping ads until it's back.

Titles matter most once the blockers are gone, because buyers search for exact things. On three of our store accounts, 19% of search ad clicks came from searches with a number in them, like a model or a size. So a title leads with what the product is, then the model it fits, its size, its color and its material. Google allows up to 150 characters, which leaves room for all of it.

We make those fixes in your store, not in Google, because your store sends the feed again and writes over edits made in Merchant Center. A sale price goes in the sale price field with its dates, never over the regular price. When an item sells out, we mark it out of stock instead of setting its price to zero.

Store stars help too, once you've earned them. Google says a shop usually needs 100 or more qualifying reviews from the last 24 months before it gets a store rating, and its ads carry that rating only while the average stays at 3.5 stars or higher.

Shopping or Performance Max: what each one does

Standard Shopping and Performance Max both run on your product feed. They differ in where your ad can show and in how much Google decides for you.

Standard Shopping

  • Your products show as ads with a photo, a price and your store's name, on Google Search and in the Shopping tab.
  • You pick which products each campaign carries, so it's simple to read and simple to steer.
  • It runs on your feed alone, so there are no images, videos or headlines to write.

Performance Max

  • One campaign can show your products on Search, YouTube, Gmail and other Google sites.
  • It takes your feed plus your images, videos and text, and Google builds the ads from them.
  • Search themes and negative keywords steer it, and Google makes more of the choices.

In late 2024, Google stopped putting Performance Max first when both campaign types sell the same products in one account. Now the campaign with the higher Ad Rank serves the ad, so a store can run both and judge each one by the orders it brings in.

How we run Performance Max for a store

Performance Max picks a lot on its own, so we give it more to work with and set the controls that keep it on your buyers. Then we leave it alone long enough to learn.

For the first two weeks, we hold the budget within 20% of where it started and keep the same bid strategy, so the campaign can settle. Google advises letting a new Performance Max campaign run at least 6 weeks before you compare it with anything, and avoiding frequent changes in that time.

We judge it in two-week blocks after that, because store sales swing up and down on their own. On three of our store accounts, ad sales fell 20% or more below the week before in 33% of weeks, so one bad week doesn't prove that anything broke.

Google's bidding learns from the sales it's told about, which is why tracking comes first. In September 2026, 91% of the spend in our paid Search, Performance Max, Shopping and Display campaigns ran on a bidding strategy Google sets from conversion data.

  • Asset groups: each product line gets its own asset group, sent to that line's own page, so we can read each line's sales apart.
  • Search themes: we write 50 for every asset group, starting from the real searches already in your search terms report.
  • Assets: we fill every headline, long headline and description slot, and we add square and wide images and a logo. We add at least one video too, because without one Google makes its own from your images.
  • Location: we show your ads to people who are in the places you ship to or often there, and we skip the option that adds people who are only interested in those places.
  • Bidding: we bid on the value of each sale, with purchases set as the goal on the campaign itself instead of the account default.
  • Pages: we leave final URL expansion on, so Google can send a shopper to the best product page, and we keep your cart, checkout and account pages out of it.
  • Negative keywords: Google applies them to Performance Max on Search and Shopping, so we block the searches that will never buy there too.

What it costs

Open Spots Store is $997 every 4 weeks, plus a $1,997 build paid once, or $0 on the 13-cycle plan. Your own card pays Google for the ads, in your own accounts.

You get reports, your portal and a short Loom video every 3 months, plus a person to call with questions.

We bill every 4 weeks, so a year is 13 bills. Cycle to cycle: you pay the build and keep the 30-Day Stop. You can cancel at the end of any bill. The 13-cycle plan: the build is $0 today, and you sign up for 13 cycles, one every 4 weeks. There's no 30-Day Stop. If you stop before your 13th cycle, the build you skipped goes on your last bill.

Stop anytime in your first 30 days, and the fee never starts. Your fee starts on day 31, unless you tell us to stop by the end of day 30.

Growth fits a store ready for $3,000 or more a month, or for Facebook too. It puts Shopping, Performance Max and your feed on one budget with Search, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Growth starts at $1,750 every 4 weeks plus a $3,997 build, and it comes with your own advocate. If you move up from Open Spots Store, the build you already paid counts toward the next one.

We can't promise a number of sales, because sales depend on your products, your prices and your budget. Tracking shows which orders came from your ads and what each sale cost you. Every price we charge is on our pricing page.

Questions

What does an ecommerce marketing agency do?

Ours runs your Google Shopping and Performance Max ads. We set up or fix your product feed in Merchant Center, set up purchase tracking, run your campaigns and read the searches behind them every week. You see which orders came from your ads and what each sale cost you.

How much does Google Shopping management cost?

Open Spots Store is $997 every 4 weeks, plus a $1,997 build paid once, or $0 on the 13-cycle plan. Your own card pays Google for the ads. We recommend Growth, from $1,750 every 4 weeks, for a store ready for $3,000 or more a month on ads.

Should I run Performance Max or Standard Shopping?

You can run both on the same feed. Since late 2024, Google picks between them by Ad Rank when they sell the same products, instead of putting Performance Max first. Standard Shopping is simpler to read, and Performance Max reaches YouTube, Gmail and other Google sites too, so we judge each one by the orders it brings in.

How many sales will I get?

It depends on your products, your prices and your budget, so we can't promise a number up front. We set up tracking, so you can see which orders came from your ads and what each sale cost you.

Who owns the Google Ads and Merchant Center accounts?

Your own card pays, in your own Google Ads and Merchant Center accounts. The account and its data are yours either way.

Will Google run ads for my products?

Some products can't advertise on every platform, so we check yours on the first call. Google also checks every product in your feed against its rules, and Merchant Center lists each one it turns off with the reason.
